Unveiled at Akademy 2024, KDE’s annual community get-together, the KDE Slimbook VI marks a major refresh from earlier models in the KDE Slimbook line.
And this thing ain’t no slouch – a dedicated benchmark page shows how this model compares to the preceding versions (spoiler: better).
The 16-inch KDE Slimbook VI is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU with integrated NPU for local AI/ML workloads.
Graphics are integrated but are well above the usual iGPU fare, with 12-cores, a high clock speed, and performance besting a GTX 1050 Ti (at lower power draw to boot).
The base-level model ships with 16 GB RAM but the laptop supports a maximum of 96 GB RAM, up from 64 GB in earlier models.
And because the RAM is unsoldered (2 slots) you can add your own down the line, extending the life and usefulness of this portable.
The sixth-generation KDE Slimbook boasts a 80 Wh battery, a four speaker sound setup (2 speakers, 2 tweeters), and comes the aluminum chassis is now an eye-catching Space Blue colour.
Build robustness is said to be be improved over preceding models, and a ‘firmer’ keyboard offered – i.e., less flex during thundering typing sessions!
Naturally the KDE Slimbook VI laptop is also pre-installed with (Ubuntu-based) KDE neon running the latest KDE Plasma 6.1 release.
For more details on the specs see the info box on this page (if you’re reading from an RSS reader or a scraper site you won’t see it — come visit 🙂).
And here’s a closer look at the bottom, which gives a better sense of the ‘Space Blue’ colour:

The KDE Slimbook Plasma VI is available to pre-order from today at a special early-bird launch price of €1099, though this will rise by €100 or so in a few weeks I’d imagine.
